What is Drunk Duck? What else can I do here?

Drunk Duck (DD) is a webcomic community and FREE webcomic hosting service. It's for artists AND readers, a place where they can come together and benefit from each other. Here you can write, draw, or assist with others' comics. You can also read comics and leave comments or votes for them.

Drunk Duck features an integrated ratings and comments system. Comic creators can get the feedback they want RIGHT AWAY, as long as their readers leave some. The entire process of creating a comic account, adding pages, and managing your comments is very easy, a bonus for people who want a webcomic but don't have the space or know-how to build their own HTML pages.

We has a large and active forum where members can discuss any number of things. They can even get a sub-forum for their own comic if they like. There is also a Drunk Duck Lulu store, where readers may be able to find a book of one of their favorite comics.

An IRC chatroom is also held something something (BK you get to write this part T_T).

Drunk Duck is always growing and over time we will be adding more features and areas.

What are the rules and Terms of Service?

Drunk Duck is a great place for hosting your comics. It is a wonderful community that will welcome you with open arms and treat you with respect.

Great communities however do not spring from thin air. In order to foster a respectful, welcoming and creative community, we kindly ask that users do not engage in trollish behavior. This includes forum flames, disrespectful behavior to other members and flame baiting. Users who do engage in such behaviors will be suspended/removed and eventually banned. Should there be any personal disagreements or concerns between members, we ask that the users involved resolve the matter privately.

Drunk Duck has no interest in wantonly oppressing or interfering with a user's artistic pursuits. While you are perfectly in your right to say what you want and exercise your freedom of speech, please bear in mind that Drunk Duck is privately owned and operated. In other words, it is not a public access site and the administrative team will modify or take down content if necessary.

That said, you are pretty much able to do anything you want with your comic account. Just follow these rules:

  1. Don't disrespect your comic host (Drunk Duck). Constructive criticisms are welcomed but don't bite the hand that feeds you.

  2. Don't disrespect your (Drunk Duck) community members.

  3. If you use artwork without permission of its creator, and that person complains to the administrators, we will remove the offensive file. If you continue to do this, we will delete your account.

  4. If you find someone is using your artwork without permission and would like to see it stop, do not hesitate to contact an administrator for help. Do not begin a flame war with the offending user.

  5. Provide a link back on your page to DD.

  6. Understand that Administrators reserve the right to remove your account for the reasons above.

What is the warning system?

We have this system because some folks just don't learn. This is basically a score. Everyone starts off with a Warning score of 0%. As you accumulate warnings, your score rises. A high score/percentage is bad! Different offenses are worth different things.

Rude/profane Post…… adds 10%
Snipe………………… adds 20%

100% (or over) freezes the account automatically. However, there is a daily decay of 1%. However, admins can set the warning level to whatever they feel is warranted, and may hand out warnings for things unrelated to comments and votes. For instance, an admin may set your warning level at 107%. This will freeze the account for a week. Further, accounts may be manually frozen for repeated offences. If your account is frozen manually, rather than through warnings, only an admin can undo it.

Please keep in mind that when we refer to NEGATIVE comments and behavior, we are not talking about comments that are critical in nature. You can be critical, but still be polite. The Terms of Service outline RESPECT for all community members. If you cannot post respectfully, don’t bother. "Graphics suck, dialogue sucks, story sucks, your comic just sucks" is neither helpful nor respectful.

This is not to say that you can’t run your website with negative comments if you feel like it. If you happen to not mind (or if you even like) rude, profane posts, or even snipes, you are welcome to keep them.

We already have some people who have enormous warnings (up to 200%). Don't be like that, ok? You might think a couple are okay to do, but they start to add up. Admins also start to recognize names and IP addresses, and if you are constantly riding the borderline, they will be keeping an eye on you.

Note: Only the bad/offensive comments and the snipes get warnings. Others may get tossed out but not be associated with any warning- sometimes comments are just junky like that.

Who runs Drunk Duck and how can I contact them?

Drunk Duck is owned and run privately, but there are several helpful admins you can contact.

Volte6............... (Site Owner, President)
Ronson.............. (Senior Administrator, Vice-President)
Black Kitty......... (Site Administrator)
SpANG!............. (Site Administrator)
skoolmunkee..... (Site Administrator)

You can use the forums to send a PM (private message) to any of the admins if you need an issue resolved - the names above are their forum usernames. Note that Volte6 and Ronson often have too many things to work on than smaller site-related issues, so sending a PM to Black Kitty, SpANG!, or skoolmunkee will usually get things resolved more quickly.

Please keep in mind that these Administrators live in different parts of the world, and are not always online when you are, but usually there is at least one available to you. If you don't receive a response in a timely manner, contact another DD Administrator.

Can I use AOL's browser with Drunk Duck?

Yes and no. We don't recommend it. Often the browser works fine just to view comic pages, but sometimes it will log people out unexpectedly, interfere with creating or updating comic accounts, or cause other problems. This is purely an AOL browser issue - you may still use AOL to access the internet, but use a different browser such as IE or Firefox if you want to do things on Drunk Duck.

Where can I go for help if this FAQ doesn't answer my question?

There are several other ways to get help. First, try checking the forums. There is a specific Help! sub-forum where many common questions are answered. You can also use the forum's search feature to look for a specific topic. If you have a more general question about creating comics, art, writing, etc. there are other sub-forums for those issues as well.

You may also contact an admin if you have a specific problem. Their contact info is just a few entries above.
