OK, now I have an account. How do I add my comic to Drunk Duck?

NOTE: Do not try to make a new comic on the America Online web browser. It will always freeze and log you out during this process.

First, go to your My Controls!

When you click on it you will end up here (Without all those comics, but that's how it's going to look after you add your comic.)

Just click on Add new comic!

Add your comic's details, then click the Add Comic! button.

Guide to Comic Details

Comic Name: The title of your comic. As you type the title, Drunk Duck will check whether your proposed title has already been taken. Your comic's title will also be part of its URL on Drunk Duck - Any spaces you use will be converted to underscores, and you can't use any special characters like apostrophes, exclamation points, and question marks. You can enter them in the box, but Drunk Duck will ignore them.
Description: A short description of your comic. Users will see this when they view the list of comics or hold their mouse over your comic's link on the main page. Drunk Duck's search engine will also search in the descriptions - so be descriptive!
Comic Style: A comic strip is generally a comic with few panels, is humor-based, and can either have a running storyline or not. A comic book/story generally features full pages and a connected storyline.
Category: This should be self-explanatory, just select the option that most closely resembles your comic.
Subcategory: Same here.

After you made your comic, you will end up at your My Controls! panel. (See picture #2 in this entry.)

Click on your Comic Name, and you'll end up here:

This is the management page for that specific comic. You will have one of these pages for each comic you make. On this page you can change your comic details, take advantage of some of DD's comic account features (covered in other FAQ entries), add assistants (who will be able to add pages to the comic), and add comic pages.

To add pages to the comic, click on Add a New Page to this Comic!

Enter the page information as you see fit, then click the Send these Pages! button. Note that you can add up to 10 pages at once by clicking the relevant links under the Send these Pages! button.

Guide to Page Details

Date Live: Select the date on which you want this page to become available. You can post-date older pages this way, or load pages for future release. If you set it for a future date, the page will show up when Drunk Duck's server rolls over at midnight on that date.

NOTE: If you post-date a comic after you've loaded a later page (i.e. if you already loaded a page for the 17th and later load a page and mark it the 10th), it will appear in correct date order in your control panel, but not in your comic archives. If you forget to load a page in its order you will have to use the up/down arrows under Action to shuffle them into order. You can keep track of page order by looking at the numbers under the Page column.

Page Title: This will appear with your comic image, and it is also how you will identify your pages in the control panel. The page title will also appear in the drop-down archive browsing menu on your comic's account. Some people choose descriptive names, but others simply use page numbers.
Author's Notes: Add any text here that you want to accompany the page. You can use some BBcode here:
  • [b]bold[/b]
  • [i]italics[/i]
  • [url=http://www.drunkduck.com]URLs[/url]
  • [img]http://www.images.com/image.jpg[/img] (images hosted on external website)
  • [url=http://www.drunkduck.com][img]http://www.images.com/image.jpg[/img][/url] (image hosted on external website that is also a link).
Page: Browse your computer to upload your comic page. GIF, JPG, PNG, and SWF only. Make sure the file size is below 500kb, or it won't be accepted. Any physical dimensions OK.

Once you add a page, you will be taken back to your comic management page, where you can view information about your comic pages and edit their details. Note the up/down arrows mentioned earlier, in case you need to rearrange your comic pages.
